What is EJAM?

EJAM is a tool that makes it easy to see residential population and environmental information summarized in and across any list of places in the nation. Using this tool is like getting reports for hundreds or thousands of places, all at the same time.

This provides interactive results and a formatted, ready-to-share report with tables, graphics, and a map. The report can provide information about communities near any of the industrial facilities on a list, for example.

This version of the Environmental Justice Analysis Multisite tool (EJAM) is not associated with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), but has its roots in open source code that was originally developed at EPA.

About this Chart

These charts show how each residential population group and environmental stressor, in the analyzed locations, compares to its US average. A Summary/ EJ Index combines an environmental indicator with the Demog. Index (The Summary Index is what EJSCREEN called an EJ Index).

Definitions

Average site = the average site's average resident (the average resident's score is calculated at each site as the site-specific population-weighted mean, and then the arithmetic mean of those site-specific scores is calculated)
Average person at these sites = the average person among all the residents who are at any one or more of the sites, counting each person only once even if they live near more than one site.
